Sobre la oportunidad

We're looking for a Software Engineer III to join the FanApp team on a Contract-to-Hire basis, with the intent to convert to full-time employment for the right candidate. In this role, you will help build the next-generation shopping experience within a universal FanApp, creating intuitive, high-impact journeys that improve discovery, personalization, engagement, and conversion for sports fans.

You'll work full-stack across both the client and server side of FanApp — primarily the app's web view (frontend) and backend services in Golang and Java — partnering closely with product, design, data, and platform teams to deliver reliable, performant, and measurable experiences end to end. This role is a strong fit for an engineer who has already operated as a tech lead: someone who can challenge requirements, drive technical design, and bring a senior, steady hand to a growing team while raising the bar on quality, ownership, and technical direction.

Responsabilidades

  • Design, build, test, and ship high-quality full-stack experiences for FanApp — from the app's web view through backend services — across search, recommendations, merchandising, promotions, and product discovery.
  • Own backend services in Golang and/or Java, and build robust integrations with backend APIs and services, with careful attention to performance, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Operate as a technical lead on well-scoped projects: understand and challenge requirements, vet and validate technical design documents, and present designs at the team's weekly design review meetings (revising and re-presenting as needed).
  • Break down work into clear, actionable tasks for the team, and provide timeline, effort estimation, and delivery commitments.
  • Implement instrumentation and eventing that help the team understand fan behavior, feature adoption, experimentation outcomes, and funnel performance.
  • Partner with product managers, designers, and engineers across teams to translate business goals into scalable technical solutions and deliver them with high quality.
  • Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, improve app responsiveness, and help create exceptional fan experiences.
  • Write clean, well-tested, maintainable code and contribute to code reviews, documentation, automation, and engineering best practices.
  • Take ownership of well-scoped projects, drive execution from design through launch, and help improve team efficiency and delivery quality.
  • Support production excellence by debugging issues, improving observability, and contributing to a strong quality and release culture.
  • Stay current with technology trends — especially in the frontend space — and bring an AI-forward mindset and thought leadership to the team's technical direction.

Habilidades obligatorias

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7+ years of professional software engineering experience building consumer-facing applications or platforms, full-stack (client and server side).
  • Prior experience operating as a Tech Lead: vetting technical designs, presenting at design reviews, breaking work down for a team, and owning timelines and delivery.
  • Hands-on backend experience in Golang or Java (at least one required; comfortable picking up the other).
  • Strong experience with modern frontend or app development technologies and patterns, including component-based UI development and API-driven applications; solid foundation in React, JavaScript or TypeScript.
  • Experience integrating with backend services using RESTful APIs and building resilient client-side data flows.
  • Experience writing unit and integration tests and contributing to a culture of code quality and continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated ownership, accountability, and proactivity — able to take on complex, ambiguous projects and reliably deliver on time.
  • An AI-forward mindset, with a track record of bringing thought leadership on technology and engineering practices to a team.
  • Strong problem-solving, debugging, collaboration, and communication skills.
  • Able to commit full-time; the environment is complex and takes real time to ramp up in.
  • Strong experience with Java or Golang

Habilidades deseables

  • Some familiarity with native mobile development is useful context, though not required (native app work is owned by a separate team).
  • Experience building high-scale ecommerce experiences.
  • Experience with search, recommendations, personalization, experimentation, or merchandising systems.
  • Familiarity with analytics and event instrumentation for consumer products.
  • Experience improving performance, observability, and release quality for customer-facing applications.
  • Experience working in cross-functional product and engineering teams in a fast-paced environment.
